3-2 Stryker Brigade To Dedicate Classroom To Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut

On Tuesday, it will dedicate the Joint Fires Observer classroom after the 1st Battalion, 37th Infantry Regiment soldier, who died last year in Afghanistan.

It's been almost a year and a half since Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut died in Afghanistan, but his memory is alive and well with 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

On Tuesday, the 3-2 will dedicate the Joint Fires Observer classroom in honor of the 1st Battalion, 37th Infantry Regiment soldier.

The Rochester MN, native died April 30, 2012 in Zharay, Afghanistan from wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

Dickhut was attached to 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, Combined Task Force Arrowhead, which was responsible for providing security force assistance to Afghan National Security Forces conducting wide-area security operations. CTF Arrowhead also provided support to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as it strengthened governance efforts to neutralize threats to stability; retained and expanded security gains; and facilitated transition to follow-on forces.

The dedication ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the JFO classroom, Lewis Main.
