Army Staff Sgt. Ty Carter of JBLM Will Receive Medal of Honor At White House Ceremony

Carter will receive Medal of Honor for his courageous actions in Afghanistan in 2009. He is the fifth recipient of the honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord is getting another Medal of Honor recipient.

Army Staff. Sgt. Ty Michael Carter will be awarded the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry in a ceremony at the White House on August 26.

Carter will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving as a cavalry scout with Troop B, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, during combat operations in Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, on Oct. 3, 2009.
