Joint Base Lewis-McChord is getting another Medal of Honor recipient.
Army Staff. Sgt. Ty Michael Carter will be awarded the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry in a ceremony at the White House on August 26.
Carter will receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving as a cavalry scout with Troop B, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, during combat operations in Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, on Oct. 3, 2009.
A press conference with Carter is scheduled Monday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Patch will have coverage from the press conference.
