Grab and Go Kid's Planner, June 8th

Kid friendly activity calender at the tips of your fingers.

The kids are getting ancy with summer swiftly approaching. How are we to entertain our restless weeones? Don't worry, Patch has got your back. This week includes sports, poetry and dancing. Being well rounded is what it's all about.

When/Where:  3 p.m. Saturday at the University Place Branch Library.

Why Go:  King's Books Store will have copies available for purchase of award winner Dilworth's "The Wild Rose Asylum." This collection Rachel Dilworth's work is said to, "Embrace both traditional and experimental forms, Dilworth’s work offers a multifaceted consideration of the historical phenomenon of Ireland’s Magdalen asylums, the largest and most controversial of which were run for 150 years, until 1996." A good trip to appreciate a dying art with the big kids.

Price: Free.

When/Where: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Impact Sports Academy.

Why Go: Coach Walker is a legendary, two time All American, ex Globetrotter now inspiring coach now helping local kids and teens to build their competitive spirit in a team atmosphere.

Price: $100 per athlete (this sessions is for kids 4th-6th grade).

When/Where: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Thursdays at Volunteer Park.

Why Go: Your budding athlete (3-5 years of age) can practice some T-ball skills and teamwork through a series of drills and plays designed to teach a solid foundation of baseball skills. Parents get to help play coach with interaction as well. 'Tis the Season!

Price: $43 (Feel free to bring your own gloves, price includes all other gear during practice, T-shirt and team picture.)

Friday Night Skate!

When/Where: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday at AND 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. Friday at Wheelz Skate Rink.

Why Go: Kicking off the weekend with music, grub, vidoegames and friends on wheels?! Tradition for many generations past.

Price: $5 (Key Peninsula, includes skates), $7 (for Wheelz, addtl. $3 for skate rental).

The Mermaid

When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stadium High School Performing Arts Center.

Why Go: Take the family and watch a majestic dance rendition of Hans Christian Anderson's tale "The Mermaid." Different from Disney's take on the story by a lovely show all the same.

Price: $8 - $12 per ticket.
