JBLM Soldiers Graduate HVAC Veterans In Piping Program

The soldiers completed 18 weeks of free pre-apprenticeship training in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning in Lacey.

Ten soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord graduated from the base's first Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Veterans In Piping Welding program today.

The soldiers were recognized during a ceremony at the JBLM Lewis-North Chapel. They completed 18 weeks of free pre-apprenticeship training in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning from the United Association of Apprentices and Journeymen of the Plumbing, Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States, Canada and Australia

The UA and JBLM Army Continuing Education System have partnered to offer the UA VIP program to transitioning active duty Service members from JBLM in the pipe trades of welding and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR).

On May 23, 2014, the service members graduated from the inaugural 18-week VIP welding program at the Southwest Washington Pipe Trade (Local 26) building in Lacey. Those soldiers have now successfully transitioned out of the service and into civilian welding jobs nationwide.
