Marques Weekly, Man Who Drowned in Lake Tapps, To Be Honored With Memorial Tomorrow

A funeral for 19-year-old drowning victim Marques Weekly is scheduled for tomorrow at Christ the King Bible Fellowship Church in Federal Way.

The man who drowned in Lake Tapps over the weekend,Β , was a man of many talents.

He is remembered not only for his skill on the football and track fields, but also for his presence on the theater stage.

According to his Facebook page, after graduating high school Weekly worked as a ramp service agent at Menzies Aviation in SeaTac while studying fine arts at Green River Community College.

While he graduated from Kentridge High School in Kent a year ago, losing him hit the community hard. On Tuesday evening, fellow alum and members of the Kentridge community gathered together on the track field to honor his memory with a candlelit vigil. We've posted a video his friends made from the memorial to this article.

The vigil also served as a fundraiser to help Weekly's family pay for his funeral expenses. You can find more info on Weekly's memorial page on Facebook.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Bible Fellowship Church, 35448 11th Ave. S.W., in Federal Way.
