More Than 180 JBLM Soldiers Return Home From Afghanistan

Families and friends greeted the soldiers from 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Saturday.

Hugs and kisses filled the Soldiers Field House Sports and Fitness Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord as families and friends welcomed home 184 soldiers from 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division on Saturday.

The servicemen and women are reuniting with their loved ones after a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Many of the soldiers who returned today were on their second or third or even seventh deployments. But for others like, U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Bryan Perrenod, it was their first time serving overseas.

During his time in Afghanistan, Perrenod said he missed having his own privacy the most and is looking forward to sleeping in his own bed.

For the next four days, the exhausted soldiers will get to take a break and spend time with their family and catch up with friends. Afterward, they will be participating in reintegration courses to help ease the transition back to life at home.

The soldiers were part of Combined Task Force 4-2, which is responsible for providing security force assistance as Afghan National Security Forces conduct wide-area security operations.

The CTF 4-2 also provides support to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as it strengthens governance efforts to neutralize threats to stability, retain and expand security gains and facilitate transition to follow-on forces.
