Thursday Storm Forecasted For Lakewood-JBLM, Western Washington

The National Weather Service has predicated 1 to 2 inches of rain to fall in the Western Washington lowlands.

Expect Thursday to be a wet and loud one.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for much of Western Washington, including Lakewood and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, that calls for 1 to 2 inches of rain in the lowlands.

"A slow-moving, upper-level, low-pressure system sitting off the Oregon Coast is expected to drift east today," the National Weather Service reported.

"The low will move over Oregon on Thursday and into Central Washington on Friday. As the low approaches and moves into the area ... showers and thunderstorms will increase on Thursday and continue into Friday. These storms will likely produce locally heavy rainfall amounts."

The National Weather Service forecasts the heaviest rainfall between midday Thursday and midday Friday, with 1 to 2 inches possible in the lowlands and up to 4 inches in the Cascades.
