Students talked with Patch at We Day Seattle about how they're creating change through their community service efforts. Among those in the crowd: students from Lakes High in Lakewood.

KeyArena burst with excitement as 15,000 students from 400 middle and high schools across the state celebrated community service and helping others at Wednesday’s We Day Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and other celebrities acknowledged the efforts of the students at the rock-concert-like youth empowerment event, which also featured Jennifer Hudson, J.R. Martinez and Nelly Furtado.

Carroll and Connie Ballmer of Ballmer Family Giving served as co-chairs for We Day Seattle.
