Whiz Kid: Meet Kyle Schueler
Lakes High School senior takes his gridiron skills to the next level.
Whiz Kid's name: Kyle Scheuler
Whiz Kid's age: 18
Whiz Kid's school: Lakes High School
Whiz Kid's accomplishment: Kyle earned multiple honors as a high-school football player, including 2010 South Puget Sound League 3A Offensive Lineman of the Year and Lakes’ Legend of the Year. He also was named to the SPSL 3A’s First Team Offense and Associated Press’ All-Area and First Team Offense, and received an honorable mention on the All-State Offense. Most importantly, the success of the Lancers’ team captain has resulted in an athletic scholarship from Central Washington University, where he will join the offensive line next year.
Whiz Kid's key to awesomeness: Family issues have made the last few years difficult on Kyle, but he has persevered in the face of adversity, said his mother, Jeri Schueler, the ASB secretary at Mann Middle School. “But he has been able to continue on as a student and athlete,” she said, adding that her son is well liked among his peers and teachers.
