'Subject Not In Residence' of Police Standoff

The Pierce County SWAT Team had set up outside a home near Steilacoom Boulevard for an alleged stabbing Sunday night.

Authorities say a suspect whom police thought they had involved in a standoff was not in the home they had surrounded.

Lakewood Police Lt. Steve Mauer said the subject was not in the home, and detectives were investigating.

The Pierce County SWAT Team and Lakewood Police are at a local home after an apparent stabbing, according to various news sources.

According to KIRO 7, police are at a standoff with an individual armed with a knife at a home on 83rd Street and Steilacoom Boulevard Southwest.

King 5's @MegCoyleKING on Twitter reports that witnesses said that police have sent in a robot. A dispute lead to the violent confrontation and there is only one suspect inside the home, according to witnesses.
 
A reader on Lakewood-JBLM Patch's Facebook page said that Custer Road between 88th and John Dower Road is currently blocked off by police.
