Celebrate ASC Day at Lakewood Surgery Center Open House On Friday

If orthopaedic surgery is in your future, stop by Lakewood Surgery Center’s open house this Friday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There, you can get an up-close look at a cost-effective option for same day surgery.

Located at 7308 Bridgeport Way, Suite 102, Lakewood Surgery Center is part of Puget Sound Orthopaedics.

During the open house, guests can tour the center and its operating rooms, perform a knee scope simulation, get a free blood pressure screening, meet Tacoma Rainiers mascot Rhubarb (11 a.m. to noon), enjoy free refreshments, win door prizes and more.

Part of a nationwide event, the open house will allow people to learn more about ambulatory surgery and the high level of care Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) provide.

“National ASC Day 2012 provides the ideal opportunity for ASCs to demonstrate their value to policy makers and the public,” said ASCA chief executive officer William Prentice. “ASCs are often the first choice of doctors and patients because they offer outstanding surgical care while also providing convenience, cost savings and a comforting environment where highly skilled staff and physicians put patients first.”

An out-patient surgery center offers a more personalized setting and the full range of orthopedic surgery options is available to people in good health, including partial knee replacements and arthroscopic surgery for knees, wrists, and shoulders, usually at a lower out-of-pocket cost for the patient.

Surgeries that do not require hospital admission are performed at ASCs. Patients who elect to have surgery in this setting arrive on the day of their procedure, have the surgery in a fully equipped operating room and recover under the care of the facility’s nursing staff, all without hospital admission.
