Some Lakewood-JBLM Patch Facebook Users Bullish On Chick-Fil-A News

The quick-service chicken chain is reportedly planning a store near the Tacoma Mall.

Apparently, poultry isn't the only thing that Chick-Fil-A serves up.

It also serves up heated debate.

The News Tribune reported Wednesday that the Georgia-based quick-service chicken chain is planning a store near the Tacoma Mall.

I had never been to the place, although I have heard about it. I wanted to find out from users what they thought of it. I posted the following question on Lakewood-JBLM Patch's Facebook page:

"Looks like Chick-fil-A is coming to the Tacoma Mall area. I've never eaten there before. Should we be excited?"

That opened up a 10-piece bucket of debate from users, many of whom said they are dead-set against the chain's pending arrival in the South Sound. Most cited the restaurant's previous stands against the gay and lesbian community.

"I have no intention of spending a dime there in order for them to use MY money to support their stance against many of my loving friends," Linell Jones wrote.

Chick-Fil-A's leaders have made no bones about their views of the gay and lesbian community. The group has committed money to several anti-gay groups.

More recently, on the heels of the Supreme Court's decision to allow gay marriage last month, President Dan Cathy Tweeted that it was a, "sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies."

So we ask you, Patch users, do you think you'll eat at Chick-Fil-A when it comes to Tacoma? Do you care about its leaders' political stances? Tell us in the comments and don't forget to "Like" our Facebook page.
