City Shuts Down Car Repair Business in Lake City

Lakewood ordered the business at 9805 Winona shut down because of numerous violations to city code.

Lakewood has closed an illegal automotive repair business in the Lake City neighborhood.

Interim City Manager Heidi Wachter says the business at 9805 Winona was shut down after many years in operation.

Neighbors had a number of complaints about the business, including noise generated by late-night work and improper disposal of automotive fluids. Customers complained of shotty work.

Wachter says the city tried to work with the owner, but it wasn't enough. It citied the owner for violations of the Lakewood code regarding vehicle service and repair, as well as home occupations.

"The building department issued a stop work order on the unpermitted metal structure the owner had installed to do his automotive work in," Wachter wrote.

Patch would love to hear from neighbors in the area on their take of the closure. Was it the right move? Tell us in the comments.
