Sound Glass Celebrates 30 Years In Lakewood

Sound Glass recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary since opening in Lakewood, a huge milestone in the company’s ongoing success. Sound Glass opened for business on Jan. 13, 1983 and began to grow immediately.

Sound Glass has served over 150,000 homeowners, contractors, businesses since opening.

By the end of the first year in business, the company consisted of nine employees and four service trucks. Since then, Sound Glass has established two additional locations in Tacoma and Bremerton totaling over 60 employees and 30 service vehicles.

This year, Sound Glass President Warren Willoughby foresees increased business, particularly in the commercial market due to contracts on the military bases and the upswing in remodeling and building business. This January was the company’s largest month on record.

As a nationally recognized glass and  glazing company,  Sound Glass has been honored as a Top 50 Glaziers by Glass Magazine over 4 times and as a Top 20 Glazing Contractor by U.S. Glass, Metal & Glazing Magazine.

“I chose to start Sound Glass after sizing-up the competition and deciding I could make a good run with potential to grow the business,” said Willoughby. “Thanks to the support of our customers, we’ve done just that.”

Apart from the company’s bottom line, Sound Glass is committed to giving back to the local community. Sound Glass supports the local YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, Broadway Center for Performing Arts and donates various products and services to various charity foundations. Willoughby is also involved with the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, Lakewood Rotary, Master Builders Association of Pierce County and the Better Business Bureau.

“Sound Glass is a pillar in the Lakewood business community,” noted Ellie Chambers-Grady, economic development director for the City of Lakewood. “We are looking forward to recognizing Sound Glass’s anniversary at a City Council meeting in February.”
