Rocks are the new sand....

I discovered Point Defiance Park-Owen Beach the other day, there is beauty in all shores as far as I'm concerned. The colorful pebbles, reds, oranges, greys, greens, enough to make this island girl dizzy....the smell of the ocean, things that are so much a part of my being. The driftwood that lines the shore like pieces of art, purposely placed there, seriously, an expert designer could not have done better! It was hard to maintain my dignity as I felt compelled to "dress up" in the huge pieces of kelp that come ashore, the likes of which you will never see on Hawaii's shore...authentic mermaid costumes! Maybe the sun was not as radiant and warm as it is in Hawaii, maybe the sight of people wearing jackets and shoes while walking along the shore was a sight unfamiliar to this Hawaiian girl. However, the unique theme of peace and unity that just seems to naturally generate between people, even perfect strangers, when enjoying the lull of the ocean is something that is definitely universal and one more reason why I am so happy that I "paddled my canoe here".
