The New Lakewood Community Farmers Market is really coming together!

The New Lakewood Community Farmers Market is REALLY coming together!

I have heard from so many people from the local community! They are really excited about OUR new community market! Everyone really likes the idea of including all of the different ethnic groups into the market!  So far I have heard from the Filipino community, Korean, Latino, and German's.  I think we can start with these communities and add more as people get interested! And of course we will have a good old fashion American Day! Maybe a 50's b-bop theme! Hamburgers, hotdogs, etc.  Still working on securing a location! My gut feeling is where we are meant to have the market: Will just happen!

Cynthia - stop by the Computer Clubhouse some afternoon. I'll give you a copy of the DVD I made of Jim Diers' presentation to the Lakewood Community Collaboration. He gave tons of good ideas of ways to organize such things - but especially, encouraging collaboration with all resources - including the City of Lakewood, which has established a perfectly good farmers market that is capable of growing in new, exciting ways each year.

Hey Kurt, Thanks for the suggestions! I assisted the City of Lakewood get their farmers market going! I have no desire to collaborate with them! I did not appreciate the way I was treated by the city after the market was up and running and they did not need me any more! I plan on having my own style of market! And the more people I speak with about the City of Lakewood, the more I hear this is the way they have treated several volunteers in the past! And Maybe I should clarify: I really only had one person from the city of Lakewood leading me down a path! So I really am not trying to blame the whole City of Lakewood staff! Really only one person in charge! Anyway, I have no desire to ever help any town/city in starting a farmers market! The best run markets are managed by Farmers/Vendors!
