Patch Poll on Rail Lawsuit

That big fish eat little fish is how government works. The bigger bully wins.

The Patch is polling the public as to whether Lakewood will win in its lawsuit against Amtrak by way of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).  When somebody is a bigger bully than you, has more money than you, more whatever than you, then you – like the community of Tillicum fighting both its own city and Camp Murray at the same time – will be exactly in the position Lakewood finds itself in now.

When Dave Bugher, Assistant City Manager for Lakewood, testified before the Utilities and Transportation Commission on May 5, 2010, Bugher was basically asked whether representatives of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) gave a rip about what the city thought of their railroad plans through Lakewood’s neighborhoods.

You can read Bugher’s irritated response in the excerpted attachment.  Tells you a lot about who we’re dealing with here and what the outcome will be.
