Sorry Mr. President, I Don't Dance

With Benghazi the new blockbuster, the clear-and-present danger is whether the truth will be only subliminal in favor of what is political.

Normally it’s a once-upon-a-time event for which villains -- mostly, and heroes -- sparsely, are cast in roles to relive on the silver screen a tale once told.  But with what’s happening on the national stage today, it’s just the reverse.

This time, in real-time, the actors are playing themselves with a sounds-familiar script.

Benghazi has become the new blockbuster.

In the final scene of the 1994 movie “Clear and Present Danger,” Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) tells the President of the United States (Donald Moffat) that “he intends to blow the whistle at a Congressional Oversight Committee session despite the damage it could do to his career. He walks out of the Oval Office and begins his testimony to Congress.”

Today, May 8, 2013, is the opening scene of the Congressional House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (CHOGRC) in which testimony will be heard from three whistle blowers who’ve refused to dance the President’s “old Potomac two-step,” by revealing what they know concerning an alleged cover-up of the terrorist attack Sept.11, 2012, on the U.S. foreign serviced facility in Benghazi, Libya.

As well they should.

Four Americans were murdered that day.

They were United States Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, and Navy SEAL Tyrone S. Woods, their names and titles provided by Eric Golub in The Washington Times.

With many liberals denouncing the entire Benghazi investigation as “a partisan witch hunt led by Republicans who want to destroy the Obama administration at all costs,” observes Golub, and yet at the same time the same liberals are circling the wagons and doing everything under the sun to protect the Obama administration no matter what,” will the truth out?

Ironically, just a few days ago, April 30, America celebrated Honesty Day - a day set aside -- once a year -- to celebrate truth.  The idea is – or was, since that day was then and this day is now - that “anyone may ask a question and the person asked should give a truthful and straightforward answer.”

Evidencing spine not spin.

Or political protectionism.

Both President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- who “desperately wants to be the first female President,” says Golub, Clinton “considered the favorite for the 2016 Democratic Party nomination for president,” reports Bob Unruh in a World Net Daily exclusive -- are “accused of pushing a false narrative about an anti-Muslim video rather than admit that Radical Islamist engaged in a pre-planned attack on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11.  They are also accused of ordering that talking points specifically addressing Radical Islam were altered.”

In this unfolding investigation, will it matter that National Honesty Day has come and gone?

Will Benghazi be about four dead Americans or is it of greater concern that the truth might mean “a crushing blow for liberal women,” as Golub suggests -- Clinton in particular -- should the attempt to minimize political damage to her presidential bid not be successful?

“National Honesty Day was designed to commemorate the truthfulness of presidents,” but now “there is evidence that the administration knew from the beginning that it was a terrorist attack,” reports Unruh, and not a spontaneous Muslim riot “over a little-known online video that defamed Islam’s founder.”

So did the President and/or staff have a hand in the alteration of talking points, rewriting intelligence reports, to cover-up what he/she/they knew to be the truth?

Could the U.S. military have responded to the attacks in a timely manner and if so were they told to “stand down” that day while four Americans died, as already charged in sworn testimony by State Department career worker Gregory Hicks -- an accusation that “directly conflict(s) with multiple statements by the Obama administration”?

Has “the White House administration worked hard to obscure this fact” -- the withholding of American resources -- an outcome likely to be revealed as a result of the hearings according to Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a member of HOGRC, as reported by Cheryl K. Chumley in The Washington Times?

Have the three whistle-blowers who have now come forward -- Gregory N. Hicks, Deputy chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya, Mark I. Thompson, Counterterrorism Bureau Deputy Coordinator for Operations, and Eric Nordstrom, Libyan Regional Security Officer -- been intimidated by the State Department, their testimony here-to-fore suppressed as Chaffetz claims?

Now that the Hicks-Thompson-Nordstrom collective have in affect declared “Sorry Mr. President, I don’t dance,” will we now know the truth on this post-honesty day?

In this sordid sequel to a most clear-and-present danger – the danger that the truth will be only subliminal in favor of what’s political - it remains to be ‘scene.’
