Asteroid Does Flyby of Earth
The time it's scheduled to approach Earth at its closest was just now, at 17,150 miles above the planet's surface.
Earth just had a close brush with an asteroid.
As expected, the asteroid flew by Eart around 11:25 a.m., at some 17,150 miles above the planet's surface.
NASA says there is no connection between the asteroid and the meteor explosion that injured more than 1,000 people in Russia.
