Communities in Schools of Lakewood Teams Up To Help Students Succeed in School

Local non-profit works with Proctor & Gamble to launch a new campaign directed at increasing awareness of student dropout crisis.

Communities In Schools of Lakewood, part of the national Communities In Schools network, today announced the launch of GIVE Education, an inspiring campaign developed to increase awareness of the student dropout crisis, and raise funds to help keep more students in school.

You can support the campaign by redeeming GIVE Education Brandsaver coupons that will be distributed in newspapers around the country on July 31. For each coupon redeemed, P&G will donate two cents to CIS—allowing customers to give back while saving money.

Many coupons are dedicated to “back to school” items. If you do not have children, you can double your support by donating school supplies for the Readiness to Learn Fair, organized by Caring for Kids and held on August 13 at Lochburn Middle School. Supplies can be dropped off at the CISL office, 6402 100th St. SW.

In addition to financial support, P & G will provide television advertising, a Facebook campaign, product donations and more. “We at CISL are very excited about this campaign, and encourage people to spread the word about Brandsaver coupons”, said Dave O’Keeffe, Executive Director of CISL.

Emmy award winning singer, and spokesperson for the campaign, states that, “All students deserve the chance to learn and succeed, but not everyone has the same resources available to do so. My work with GIVE Education will help provide additional resources to CIS so they can continue to help the students who need it most.”
