  • Where/When: 6 p.m. Friday, July 1 at Cheney Stadium.
  • Why Go: Celebrate the Centennial of Naval Aviation and honor service people past and present as the Rainiers play host to the Fresno Grizzlies. Enjoy the baseball game, exciting military activities, a special centennial tribute and a fantastic firework display that will kick start your Fourth of July weekend.
  • Cost: Reserved seating plus meal voucher are being offered for $15 per ticket (a $23 value).

  • Where/When: 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2 at in Lakewood.
  • Why Go: If free live music is what you're after this weekend, you won't have to go very far to get it. Chicken Joe and the Fabulous Cocks Band will be playing all your favorites this Saturday night at the The Fan Club. Check out this video of Chicken Joe in action to get a feel for what you're in for.
  • Cost: No cover, be sure to make your reservations early.

UFC 132 Cruz vs Faber

  • Where/When: 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2 at various locations, use the UFC Bar Finder to view a list of bars or restaurants showing the fights.
  • Why Go: Can't wait until the Fourth of July to see some fireworks? UFC 132 should have plenty in store for you this Saturday. In the main event, Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz will defend his title against former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber. Also on the fight card, local favorite Jeff Hougland is set to make his UFC debut. Check out Patch's coverage of Hougland here.

Chambers Bay Grill Deck Dinning

  • Where/When: Dawn untill dusk, Daily at Chambers Bay Grill.
  • Why Go: Saturday's weather forecast is shaping up to be one of the nicest days we've seen this year. So take advantage of the warm weather while it's here and check out the deck at Chambers Bay Grill. The Pierce County Web site calls it the best deck for summer dining in the county! They even have a daily happy hour from 4 p.m. to close.

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 3 at the in Gig Harbor.
  • Why Go: Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend at the Tacoma Narrows Airport with the Freedom Fair Wings and Wheels. This event will feature aircraft displays, fly-bys, helicopters, motorcycles, a custom bike show, race cars, a bicycle rally, hot rods, food vendors, and event a beer garden for people 21 and older. 
  • Cost: Adults: $12; ages 7 to 17 are $5; kids 6 and under are free; admission includes a free gift of Metromint water.
