  • Where/When: 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at .
  • Why Go: The Lakewood Youth Athletic Association for the Lakewood and Cheer Teams is holding a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser this Friday at Oakbrook Elementary School. Dinner will include salad, spaghetti, a dinner roll and drinks. Assorted desserts will be available for a $1 each. All proceeds from the benefit will go toward supporting the Lakewood Lumberjack Youth Football team and Cheer Squad. The money is used for uniforms and safety equipment.
  • Cost: Suggested donations: $8.00 per person 11 years & up and $5.00 per person age 10 & under or $25.00 for a family of 4 (2 adult/2 children).

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at in Gig Harbor.
  • Why Go: Scarecrows will be taking over Homestead Park this Saturday at PenMet Parks' second annual scarecrow festival. The festival will feature a scarecrow contest, carnival games, hayrides, food and fair treats, live music, a 5K run and even a beer garden. Be sure to stop by the Patch booth to say hi pick up some free Patch swag.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

 

  • Where/When:  8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: The Playhouse always puts on a great show, and we've heard nothing but good things about "Something Wicked This Way Comes." So get on down to the Lakewood Playhouse and check out this great new production.
  • Cost: $23 general, $20 senior/military, $17 under 25 years of age, $15 under 15 years of age.

 

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.
  • Why Go: Oktoberfest Northwest offers many attractions and activities that will delight and excite people of all ages. You didn't think it was all beer and brats did you?
  • Cost: Free on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; regular price after 3 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday ($10); Sunday half price all day ($5), courtesy of BECU; children 12 and under free all weekend.

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at .
  • Why Go: Come kick off National Disability Employment Awareness Month with a 1k, 5k, or 10k run/walk. The second annual Dash for Disabilities is a paved course with challenging switchbacks and beautiful scenery.
  • Cost: Registration ranges between $5 and $35. All proceeds generated from this fundraising event will go towards CenterForce, a private non-profit agency dedicated to helping adults with developmental disabilities gain employment and be participating members of their community.

 

  • Where/When: 7-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum.
  • Why Go: Take a peek into 1859 during a Fort Nisqually Living History Museum Candlelight Tour. These guided walking tours of the fort take place after dark with only the stars, campfires and candles to light the way.
  • Cost: Advance tickets required. $10 adults (13 & up), $7 children (4-12).
