  • Where/When:  6-11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at .
  • Why Go: Join the Lakewood First Lions and say farewell to summer with a bratwurst a beer this Friday night at Oktoberfest. The major focus of the event will be on fun, with dancing, beer, wine, soft drinks and plenty of food served to the accompaniment of both live Rock & Roll music and recorded German music. There will also be a small silent auction, intermittent live auctions of only a few desirable and valuable items, and many donated desserts available from local shops in a silent auction format.
  • Cost: $25.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday at the Puyallup Fair Grounds.
  • Why Go: It's the last weekend of the Puyallup Fair. So grab your friends and family and head to Puyallup for all the attractions you'd expect, plus a few extras. Activities and entertainment include animal shows, grange displays, home arts cooking contests and quilts, Hobby Hall, floral designs, and rides, including the new thrill ride, Vertigo. And don't forget about all that !
  • Pricing: Admission ranges from $9 to $11. Kids under 5 are free.

  • Where/When:  8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at .
  • Why Go: It's the opening weekend for newest production from Lakewood Playhouse. The playhouse always puts on a great show, and "Something Wicked This Way Comes" should be no different. So get on down to the Lakewood Playhouse and be the first of your friends to see the new play.
  • Cost: $23 general, $20 senior/military, $17 under 25 years of age, $15 under 15 years of age.

  • Where/When: 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 along Owen Beach at Point Defiance.
  • Why Go:  Join the Liliir Education Project for this fun-filled run/walk along scenic Owen Beach at Point Defiance. Run or walk and enjoy the view of Vashon Island, ferry boats and fishing craft while you raise money for a good cause. All proceeds benefit the Liliir Education Project, a non profit organization focusing on building classrooms for Southern Sudanese children who attend school, but are taught outside under the trees.
  • Cost:  Registration is $25.

  • Where/When: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 starting at the Narrows Park and Ride (6th Ave. & N. Skyline Dr, Tacoma)
  • Why Go: Join the Tacoma Wheelmen as they Pedal for the Right to a Clean Planet. Ride along Tacoma’s planned bike boulevards and visit resources for eco-friendly living, including the Proctor Farmer’s Market and the EnviroHouse. Make a statement by decorating your bike with images and words that demonstrate your hopes for a clean planet. Consider ways to ride without creating waste, like bringing reusable bags and eating utensils. Bring a friend and don't forget your helmet.
