Every so often, something wonderful happens on the side of the freeway.
Just before 7 a.m. this morning, a healthy baby girl was born on the I-5 and SR 512 interchange, delivered by her father in the front seat of the family's Dodge Charger.
The couple was headed to Madigan Army Medical Center, where they are now with their new baby.
“We first got reports of a vehicle driving erratically at an excess speed, then the 9-1-1 call came in from dad referencing the baby,” said Washington State Patrol spokesman Guy Gill. “When the fire department and first responders arrived, all that needed to be done was cut the umbilical chord.”
Gill said both mother and baby are doing well. Patch has put in a call to the new parents, and we will update this story if we learn more.
Anyone else have tales about deliveries at unexpected locations?
