Pierce County Ferries Planning For Fourth of July Week

Expect higher traffic around the Steilacoom terminal.

Pierce County wants to let people know that if they're planning to use its ferry system during Fourth of July weekend, be ready.

According to Warren Hendrickson, Aviation and Ferry Planner for Pierce County Public Works and Utilities in University Place, residents should be aware of the following issues:

- The biweekly Wednesday fuel run schedule will be affected.

- Steilacoom will have several July 4 events that will affect transit to and from the Ferry Terminal throughout the day.

- Remember: Fireworks possession and/or use are illegal in both the Town of Steilacoom and on the Ferry System at all times.

The details for each of these above topics will be posted on the Pierce County Ferry website by this weekend. Go to www.piercecountywa.org/ferry for more information. Should there be any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

"Let's have a safe 4th!" Hendrickson said.
