Pierce County Issues Burn Ban, Effective Through September

Long-term dry weather prompted the county to put a burn ban in place through the rest of the summer.

As of 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug.8, a Pierce County-wide burn ban is in effect and scheduled to expire Fri., Sept. 30.

A county press release states that the ban applies to all outdoor burning, except for small recreational fires in established fire pits on approved camp grounds or private property. Barbeques, gas and propane stoves are still allowed.

The ban was declared by the Pierce County Fire Marshal in conjunction with the Pierce County Fire Chiefs’ Association and the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Residents with approved DNR burn permits are advised to call 1-800-323-BURN (2876) for more information.
