Washington Soldier Dies in Afghanistan

Capt. Aaron R. Blanchard from Selah was one of two soldiers who died April 23 from indirect enemy fire, according to the Army.

A soldier from Washington died this week in Afghanistan, the Army announced.

Capt. Aaron R. Blanchard of Selah, 32, was one of two soldiers who died April 23 in Pul-E-Alam, from wounds suffered from enemy indirect fire.

The other soldier has been identified as 1st Lt. Robert J. Hess, 26, of Fairfax, VA.

The woldiers were assigned to the 2nd Aviation Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, NY.
