Tacoma's AquaRun For A Child

Gift for a Child, a non profit 501c, is proud to announce the fourth annual AquaRun for a Child taking place in Commencement Bay and along Ruston Way in Tacoma, Washington on Sunday Aug 25, 2013. Start time: 9:30 AM.  Among the featured athletes will be Andrew Malinak, who last attempted to swim the 12 mile Strait of Juan de Fuca in 7 hour earlier this month!
 
This event consist of three (3) different races:
- 2K Swim & 5K Run (IndividualS and Relays)
- Swim Only: 2K or 4K (1.2 or 2.4 miles)
- Run Only: 5K (3.1 miles)
We welcome back returning triathletes as well as everyone else planning to participate in August for the first time. Last year during our third annual event 52 aquathletes and swimmers participated in this event to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care. Thank you to our generous sponsors (C.I. Shenanigans, Connelly Law Offices, Jockey Person to Person, NW Sport Rehab, Blue Wave Aquatics, Bimbo Bakeries, Glass Fish Art, South Sound Running, Poverty Bay Coffee, AquaRec, Just Keep Swimming, WalMart, Costco and Beaux Arts Studio for helping to make this event a great success in 2012. We are expecting the 2013 event to be even better.

The AquaRun is an event from Gift for a Child to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care. Our mission is to educate and mobilize athletes of all ages, individuals and the business community to run, swim or walk for a day to help foster youth overcome obstacles to achieving academic, life and career success.  Run, swim or walk with us Sunday, August 25, 2013 as we improve the lives of foster youth – One Stroke and One Mile at a Time.
