Eric Shoning, M.D., Dies Days Short of 94th Birthday

Eric Shoning Evans, M.D. of Steilacoom died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 just 8 days short of his 94th birthday.

Eric Shoning Evans, M.D. of Steilacoom died Thursday, August 1, 2013 just 8 days short of his 94th birthday.

He was born on August 9, 1919 in Portland, Oregon to Rolley G. Evans and Loie McGogy Evans.  He is survived by his wife, Carol, daughters Lynn Vance and Karen Baker and son Lawson Evans.  His grandchildren are Eric (Amanda) Vance, Robert (Katherine) Vance, Lawson Tate Evans, Sarah Baker and Natalie Baker. 

His parents moved to California soon after he was born and he grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from John Marshall High School, Occidental College, and the California College of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.  He practiced medicine in South Laguna, California for many years, then was a Medical Consultant for the State of California until retirement.  He and Carol then moved to a home on the Smith River in Northern California where they lived for 14 years until moving to Steilacoom.

He was a life member of the Orange County Medical Association, California Medical Association and the American Medical Association.  He was also a life member and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The family requests memorials to the American Heart Association or Franciscan Hospice House.

Private graveside services will be held at El Toro Memorial Cemetery in Orange County, California by the family.
