Apartment Fire Displaces 20 Lakewood Residents

No injuries reported as smoke pours out from second-story unit.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue officials said about 20 Lakewood occupants living in an apartment complex have been displaced due to a fire Tuesday evening at 8100 Sherwood Forest Street SW, said Jenny Sharp, West Pierce spokeswoman.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. West Pierce arrived to light smoke coming from a second-story unit, Sharp said. The fire started on the exterior of the building and spread to the eaves and attic area.

Sharp said firefighters were quickly able to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to the rest of the building, adding that due to the roof damage, approximately 20 occupants of the multiplex were displaced. There were no injuries.
