Update: Police to Check Leads, Possible Video Footage of Lakewood Post Office Armed Robbery

An employee was held at gunpoint while an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. No one was injured while authorities continue to locate the suspects.

June 7, 11 p.m. Editor's Note: Police authorities paused working on the armed robbery crime Tuesday night, because there were no leads.

Lakewood police say three men wearing hooded sweatshirts, dark pants described as black and in their 20s committed armed robbery at a small post office located at 8404 83rd Ave. SW on Tuesday, according to Lakewood Police Lt. Chris Lawler.

Wielding a shotgun, one of the suspects held a lone store employee at gunpoint and stole an unknown amount of cash at 4:47 p.m., Lawler said. The employee was not assaulted nor injured. No arrests have been made, according to police.

Lawler said the men were seen loitering around the breezeway of the post office for about 15 minutes before going in.

"The three subjects fled on foot, unknown if they got into a vehicle," Lawler said. "We had containment set up, but no dogs were available."

A Lakewood commuter reported about a dozen squad cars spread out between the bar, and Hipkins Road. Lawler said there's not a lot to go on other than follow-up with neighboring businesses for video.
