Boater Who Overturned Near McNeil Island Finds Way Back To Shore On Key Peninsula

Authorities say the boater lost his outboard with transom in the water. He didn't have oars, so he paddled his way back to shore on the Key Peninsula.

Here's is a follow-up to media reports that a boat overturned near McNeil Island this afternoon.

University Place Police Chief Mike Blair said the boater "lost his outboard with transom in the water":

He failed to have oars in the boat, but made his way to shore by paddling with his hands. He was checked out by fire and was fine. Originally reported off the 5900 block of Yeazell Rd KPS made it to shore at the 5400 block of Mahncke Rd KPS.

Thank goodness the unidentified boater is safe, as Puget Sound can't be all that warm this time of year.
