Lockdown at Clover Park Technical College For Man With Gun Lifted

Lakewood Police have been unable to find the man, whom witnesses say left the campus in a white vehicle with the door open.

From Lakewood Police spokesman Chris Lawler:

At 11:34 this afternoon, a report came in that a male with a gun was seen running after a white car on campus.  Numerous LPD units responded to investigate, along with police from Tacoma, PCSD and other area agencies.  The last information we received was that the person with the gun was possibly headed westbound.

LPD units responded quickly, but the described vehicle and the person with the weapon was not located.  The campus perimeter was secured and security notified.  The school went into a lockdown.  No other reports were received on the location of the vehicle or the person with the weapon.  Some information was received that there may have been some sort of a disturbance on campus that resulted in a person pulling a gun and a white vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed with a door open.

As a precaution, police units are searching every building on campus to make sure that the person with the weapon is not hiding somewhere or still on campus.

So far, the vehicle and the suspect have not been located.  We believe they fled prior to police arrival.  Once all the buildings have been searched, I will send out an update.  Detectives are also on scene to investigate the initial call.
