Disaster Preparedness Day Scheduled for Aug. 11
The event - which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lakewood Lowe's - is intended to help residents and give them tips on how to take care of their families during a disaster.

Would you and your family be ready if a disaster were to strike tomorrow?
West Pierce Fire & Rescue, the City of Lakewood, and the will be hosting the sixth annual “Disaster Preparedness Day” on Aug. 11.
The event will take place at the Lakewood Lowe’s located at 100th & Lakewood Drive SW from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come and join us for a day of learning how to take care of your family in a disaster! Some highlights of Disaster Preparedness Day:

- Learn how to assemble a disaster kit
- Learn about our own Community Emergency Response Team
- American Red Cross will provide disaster preparedness education
- Pierce County Department of Emergency Management will be providing educational materials and give tours of their Mobile Command vehicle
- There will free raffle for disaster preparedness items
The first 100 families will receive some supplies to start a disaster kit of their own.
