Homeowner Displaced in Lakewood House Fire

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews extinguished a residential fire Tuesday morning. Nobody was injured, and investigators are working to determine the cause.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews extinguished a house fire at 11208 Military Rd. SW in Lakewood earlier this morning around 7:30 a.m., according to Hallie McCurdy, assistant fire marshal.

Firefighters arrived to find light smoke showing from inside the home. It took about half an hour from the time of dispatch to bring the fire under control, McCurdy said.

"No one was home at the time," McCurdy said. "Investigators are working to determine the cause."

McCurdy said there was significant damage to the residence, adding the single homeowner will not be able to live there.
