Fireworks in Lakewood: What Is Legal and When to Use Them

Within the city, you can use sparklers, ground and handheld sparkling devices, cylindrical or cone fountains, illuminating torches, wheels, ground spinners, filter sparklers, smoke devices, helicopters, roman candles, mines or shells. If it is lawfully sold in the City of Lakewood, by any vendor, it is legal in the City of Lakewood.
Fireworks are legal July 3 to July 5 of any year from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and from 11 p.m. on December 31 to 1:00am January 1 of any year. A person must be 16 years of age to purchase fireworks. It is the responsibility of any seller of fireworks to obtain and/or require proof of age of any customer at time of purchase.

A person must be 16 years of age in order to set off fireworks without direct supervision of their parent or guardian. It addition, it shall be unlawful for any person to use, discharge or explode any type of fireworks in any manner on any school grounds or park located within the City of Lakewood or any City rights of way.
