House Catches Fire On 121st Street

No injuries were reported from the fire that started on home's second floor.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue crews were called this afternoon to a home in the 4800 block of 121st Street Southwest when a fire broke out on the second floor.

Responders arrived at 12:18 p.m. to find “moderate smoke” coming from the two-story residence; it had extended into a wall and between the ceiling joists.

No one was injured; a neighbor entered the home prior to crews arriving to rescue a pet bird and attempt to alert any occupants.

The fire was declared under control at 12:59 p.m.; its cause is under investigation. Damages to the home are estimated at $50,000.
