JBLM Releases More Information on Soldiers Involved In Fatal Stabbing

All soldiers involved - including victim Spc. Tevin A. Geike - were assigned to 7th Infantry Division.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord released more information today on the three soldiers arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of another soldier over the weekend, as well as the victim, Spc. Tevin A. Geike.

All soldiers involved are assigned to the 7th Infantry Division. Authorities said the incident does not appear to be racially motivated.

Here is information on the suspects:

  • Pvt. Jeremiah D. Hill, of Chicago, assigned to 3-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division. Hill joined the Army in April 2013 and reported to One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, in the Military Occupational Specialty 11B (Infantryman). Upon graduation, he was assigned to 3-2 SBCT in July 2013.
  • Pfc. Cedarium L. Johnson, of Tyler, TX, assigned to 3-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division. Johnson joined the Army in March 2012 and reported to One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, in the Military Occupational Specialty 11B (Infantryman). Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 3-2 SBCT in July 2012. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in July 2012.
  • Spc. Ajoni I. Runnion-Bareford, of Islesboro, ME, assigned to 3-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division. Runnion-Bareford joined the Army in March 2011 and reported to One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, in the Military Occupational Specialty 11B (Infantryman). Upon graduation, he was assigned to 3-2 SBCT in July 2011. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in December 2011.
It also released information on the victim:

Geike, of Summerville, SC, was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-158th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division.

According to unit records, Spc. Geike entered the Army in October 2010 and reported to Fort Jackson, SC, for Army Basic Training. Following graduation, he reported to Fort Rucker, AL, for Advanced Individual Training in the Military Occupational Specialty 15P (Aviation Operations Specialist). Upon graduation from AIT, Geike arrived at JBLM in April 2011. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 4-6th Attack Reconnaissance Squadron, 16th CAB, as an aviation operations specialist. In October 2011, he was reassigned to the 2-158th AHB.

Spc. Geike’s civilian and military education includes a high school diploma (2010) and Military Occupational Specialty 15P: Aviation Operations Specialist (2010).

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Aviation Badge.

The focus of the 7th Inf. Div. leadership is on cooperating with the Lakewood Police Department to facilitate a thorough investigation of this tragic incident and to support Spc. Geike’s family, the base said.
