Lakewood Fire Displaces Military Family

Firefighters douse large blaze at 4:06 a.m. Thursday morning. There were no reported injuries.

A Lakewood military family has been displaced after their triplex unit caught fire at 4:06 a.m. this morning at 8913 Commercial St. SW, according to Hallie McCurdy, assistant fire marshal for West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters arrived to a fully engulfed fire to one unit of the triplex. They quickly knocked down the blaze and it was declared under control at 4:25 a.m., McCurdy said.

There were no reported injuries. It's the second reported residential fire this week.

The fire displaced an adult, two children and a dog. King 5 reported the father is deployed. The American Red Cross assisted the family, McCurdy said.

The fire is under investigation.
