Lakewood Mother, Daughter Killed in Motor Vehicle Accident on Highway in Northern California

June Williams and Lois Hosking were active members of Caring For Kids and the Lakewood First Lions Club. Friends and family are devastated by their deaths.

Friends and family are grieving over the unexpected loss of Lakewood residents June Williams and Lois Hosking. The Siskiyou County Coroner's Office confirmed to Patch the death of Williams and Hosking.

Hosking, 86, the mother of Williams, 66, were killed in a motor vehicle accident in Northern California near the city of Yreka on Saturday. Yreka is in Siskiyou County about an hour south of the Oregon border.

They were headed back home after a visit to California.

Members of the were informed Sunday morning of the fatal accident. The women were active in Caring For Kids, a local nonprofit organization, and the Lakewood First Lions Club.

Williams spent an estimated 12 hours a week at the , which was transformed into a storage facility for clothes and other items for needy families in the community. Hosking often accompanied Williams to the clothing bank.

Diane Formoso, CFK founder, said they were her friends, aside from helping out in the community.

"Their family is so devastated right now," Formoso said.
