ORIGINAL: 10:44 a.m.

A Lakewood Police dog who became scared during Thursday's lightning storm ran away from home, and authorities hope you can help locate him.

Police think Duke ran away around 4:45 p.m. The police officer who partners with the narcotics dog noticed the dog was missing from his kennel.

Duke had apparently chewed his way out of the kennel. A search was conducted for the dog, but he was not located and is still missing. The dog ran away from his home near the area of 208th Street and the Mountain Highway in Spanaway-Graham.

Duke is a lab retriever mix who is approximately 10 years old and has 6 years of service with LPD.  He is micro-chipped and is wearing the same collar as in the photo.

LPD is asking for the public’s help in keeping an eye out for Duke.  If he is located, please call 911 for assistance.
