Man Arrested for Pushing Woman, Kicking Service Dog at Ft. Lewis Motel

The 40-year-old man was arrested for fourth-degree assault and second-degree animal cruelty Monday night after he reportedly pushed a woman to the ground and kicked her service dog, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

Lakewood Police arrested a 40-year-old man for fourth-degree assault and second-degree animal cruelty Monday night after he reportedly pushed a woman to the ground and kicked her service dog.

According to Lakewood Police spokesman Lt. Chris Lawler, the incident happened at Ft. Lewis Motel in the 12200 block of Pacific Highway SW in Lakewood around 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities found an intoxicated male suspect at the scene.

Lawler said the incident began when the man started accusing the victim of stealing his jeans from the motel laundry room.

The motel video surveillance system captured the man approaching the female victim, while her service dog sniffed the man’s leg and walked away.

The video then showed the man kicking the dog and pushing the woman to the ground.

Lawler said the woman did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.
