Motorcyclist Dies While Recklessly Driving Monday Night, Lakewood Police Say

The driver, 38, was performing a "wheelie"before he crashed.

Lakewood Police are reporting that a 38-year-old man died Monday night while recklessly driving along Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest.

According to Lakewood spokesman Chris Lawler, "reckless driving on a motorcycle, wheelies and excessive speed caused the crash."

"The motorcycle went by a patrol officer (speeding and doing a wheelie) and they turned on it to try and stop it," he told Patch. "The officer found the crashed motorcycle down the road, with the driver having sustained serious injuries. The driver was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead."
