Police Arrest Six in Oakwood Elementary School Burglary

Lakewood Police recovered seven laptops and some cameras that were taken from the school. Another juvenile male was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Lakewood Police responded to an alarm at Oakwood Elementary School around 3:15 a.m. Thursday morning.

When officers arrived, they witnessed three male running from the school, according to police spokesman Lt. Chris Lawler. One male was seen carrying seven laptops that he stole from the school. He dropped the items when he saw the police. 

Police stopped two of the men and later caught the third suspect. Three additional male subjects were captured later for a total of six in custody, Lawler said.

The group told police they were hanging out on school property drinking and decided to break into the school. 

The stolen laptops were recovered along with some cameras. Five adult males were arrested and booked for burglary.

Another male and juvenile male that were part of the group and waiting for their friends were stopped in a car outside the school. 

The juvenile male was arrested on an outstanding warrant, while the male driver was released.
