Two Opportunities To Fill The Boot With West Pierce

The fire department's local union will again be asking motorists to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Lakewood and University Place residents will get two chances to help West Pierce Fire & Rescue fight muscular dystrophy.

On Saturday, West Pierce Firefighters Local 1488 will be collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at two locations in Lakewood. Firefighters will be at SummerFest at Fort Steilacoom Park and the Lakewood Towne Center from noon until 6 p.m.

Firefighters are volunteering to “Fill the Boot” for MDA, which supports those with muscular dystrophy and other related diseases, as well as their families.

Then, from noon to 6 p.m.,  July 8, the firefighters will be in University Place at the intersection of 27th Street and Bridgeport Way.

Last year, more than $23,000 was raised in these two cities for this event and we appreciate the outpouring generosity and spare change.
