A woman crashed her car into the Joint Base Lewis-McChord  fence early Saturday morning, after leading police on an Interstate 5 chase.

The Washington State Patrol told KIRO, which first reported the crash, that officers attempted to pull the woman over on southbound I-5 near South 320th Street in Federal Way before 7 a.m. after she allegedly was backing up on the freeway. However, the woman drove away at high speed, according to the TV station.

Trooper Guy Gill told Patch that the woman led troopers on a chase from Federal Way to Tacoma through South Tacoma Way, then to Gravelly Lake Drive, when troopers ended the pursuit.

Then, the woman was reported to have crashed into the fence at JBLM's Woodbrook housing gate, Gill said.

The woman was arrested by the Washington State Patrol, with local police assistance, Gill said. Police told KIRO that driving under the influence is suspected.
