2-2 SBCT Gets Change of Command Today

Col. Louis Zeisman will assume command of the Lancer Brigade from Lt. Col.Richard Edwards.

The 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division will conduct a change of command ceremony today.

Col. Louis Zeisman will assume command of the Lancer Brigade from Lt. Col.Richard Edwards. Here's his biography:

Col. Louis A. Zeisman is a native of Fayetteville, NC, and a graduate of Pembroke State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as an Infantry second lieutenant in 1990. From 1991 to 1994 Col. Zeisman served in the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA, and 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, GA, During these assignments, Col. Zeisman served as platoon leader, weapons platoon leader and company executive officer. 

Following service in the 1st Ranger Battalion, Col. Zeisman was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, where he served as a rifle company commander. After completion of command, Col. Zeisman returned to the 75th Ranger Regiment where he served as a battalion assistant operations officer, a battalion adjutant, a headquarters and headquarters company commander and liaison officer to the U.S. European Command.

From 2002 to 2009, Col. Zeisman held numerous positions in the 82nd Airborne Division and 18th Airborne Corps including: battalion executive officer with the 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment; brigade operations officer of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment; Aide-de-Camp to the XVIII Airborne Corps Commander; battalion commander of the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. 

Col. Zeisman returned to Fort Benning to serve as the Chief of Tactics following command.

Col. Zeisman’s most recent assignment was as the operations officer for Combined Joint Task Force 82, ISAF Regional Command - South Headquarters, Afghanistan. Col. Zeisman deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (3 oak leaf clusters); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (3 oak leaf clusters).Col Zeisman also earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge; Expert Infantryman’s Badge; Master Parachutist Badge; Pathfinder Badge; and Ranger Tab. Col. Zeisman also holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. 

Col. Zeisman is married to the former Melissa Hope Edwards of Fayetteville, NC.
