3 Years of Work Come to Fruition As Ground Broken On 2 JBLM Schools

U.S. Reps. Norm Dicks and Adam Smith and Undersecretary of the Army Joseph Westphal in attendance as Carter Lake and Hillside Elementary projects kick off.

Patch was in attendance as ground was broken this morning on the new Hillside and Carter Lake Elementary Schools on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

In addition to local leaders and administrators from the Clover Park School District, U.S. Reps. Norm Dicks and Adam Smith and Undersecretary of the Army Joseph  Westphal were on hand for remarks and assistance in shoveling dirt.

Dicks, especially, was instrumental in securing funding for the project, and four other JBLM schools will also be rehabilitated or replaced in the next few years.
