Change of Command for Lancer Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

Col. Barry F. Huggins commanded the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division for 35 months, including nine months in Afghanistan.

The 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division is slated to hold a relinquishment of command ceremony Tuesday at Lewis North, Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Col. Barry F. Huggins commanded the Lancer Brigade for 35 months and led the organization through one nine-month deployment to southern Afghanistan.

Huggins will leave command to Lt. Col. Richard J. Edwards, who currently serves as the deputy commanding officer for the brigade.

Edwards will command the organization in Huggins’ absence until mid-July, when the new commander is set to assume his post as the senior officer in the Lancer Brigade.
