City of Lakewood Reportedly Sues State Over Passenger Train Plan. Will It Win?

The News Tribune reports that the city's main contention is the state's environmental assessment didn't thoroughly examine the effect of trains on neighborhoods.

The City of Lakewood is taking its fight to stop passenger trains from rumbling through the city to the courts.

The News Tribune is reporting that city filed a lawsuit against the Washington State Department of Transportation regarding its plan to reroute passeneger trains from the Point Defiance area through the city and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Basically, the lawsuit contends that the state's environmental assessment of that plan didn't thoroughly examine the effect of trains on neighborhoods in Lakewood. The new route also includes South Tacoma, JBLM and DuPont.
